Xbox One Early Deliveries Reveal New Details - And Get Gamers Banned

Xbox One Early Deliveries Reveal New Details...
|

We get it - everyone's excited about the Xbox One and PS4. With goodreason. But apparently it's made some people a little over-excited. Not just the unboxers, but the people charged with delivering the consoles.

Over the weekend reports have been emerging of consoles - particularly Xbox Ones, for some reason - being delivered early to customers across the United States. Retailer Target appears to have sent out about 150 of the machines before it plugged the leak, and that was apparently more than enough time for details about the machine to be published online.

One user - "Moonlight Swami" - posted videos of the entire setup process, including installation and boot-up.

Among his (not-that-fascinating) revelations include the fact that it takes 17 seconds for the new Xbox to boot up, and that the games have wildly different download sizes (Call of Duty: Ghosts is 39GB, Forza 5 at 31GB while FIFA is 8GB).

Unfortunately the videos he posted have been taken down after a copyright claim by Microsoft, and the user himself has apparently had his account banned - though Xbox's Larry Hryb said the ban isn't permanent.

In a statement Microsoft said:

"Due to a retail partner's system issue, a very small number of Xbox One consoles were shipped to consumers before the November 22 street date. We're pleased to see the initial response to Xbox One has been so positive, but given we are still putting the finishing touches on our games, UI and online services, as well as confidential partner and media agreements, these units will be restricted from connecting to Xbox Live until closer to our launch date."

We can't wait to get our hands on a machine - and we'll give you all the details as soon as we can. But in the meantime it's probably best to wait for yours to arrive than try and get an early edition on eBay - the Buy It Now price on one early console was set at $10,000 before the lot was yanked. Yikes.
