Time to Change Youth ambassador and retail adviser

I enjoy writing, volunteering, travelling, socialising, photography, listening to music, attending gigs as well as spending time with my boyfriend, my friends, family and pets. I'm confident, loud and have the most annoying laugh you could imagine. I have just finished my education at a Girls Grammar School in Kent and I am starting Greenwich University to study nursing in January 2015. I currently work Vodafone and volunteer at Time To Change as a youth ambassador. I was introduced by ‘Time to Change’ by a very close friend of mine during recovery from the lowest part in my life and since then have been passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues, fighting stigma and working towards making mental health something that is normal to talk about, both at school and at home. I started writing about my feelings more and more on pages like twitter and tumblr after the death of a close acquaintance earlier this year, but finally decided on writing my blog (http://justasparkbutitsenough.wordpress.com) in June.
Looking back through this blog and seeing how far I’ve come in the past year is so refreshing. I think that once you’ve been truly unhappy within yourself, it gives you a drive to help those in situations similar to the ones you’ve faced. If I had it my way, nobody would ever doubt themselves of feel low about who they are- But I know it’s not this simple. The most important thing is for everybody to realize they are not alone in WHATEVER they are going through. Time to Change and the HeadStart project give me the chance to turn my negative life experiences of severe bullying, depression and just general issues that all teenagers face into a positive change for other young people and I couldn’t be any more thankful for that. To make things better, you always have to put in effort and try your best. Ignoring things and keeping them concealed will never make them go away. I am no longer ashamed to admit the parts of me that have massively shaped who I am today.
