Bearded Cyclist Wielding A Hammer Linked To Attacks On Pedestrians

One man was struck on the head, and another was forced to give up his phone.

Police have launched an investigation after linking four assaults in the Hayes area.

A bearded male suspect, riding a bicycle and armed with a hammer is being sought by police after a 33-year-old man was threatened. The victim gave up his phone in the attack on Botwell Lane at around 7.20pm on Monday, but was not injured.

A short time afterwards, another man was struck on the head with a hammer by a man of the same description. He was taken to hospital by police.

At 7.40pm on Beechwood Avenue, a 30-year-old man was threatened by a male suspect wielding a hammer. He was not injured.

Then at 11pm, police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a 54-year-old man who had been taken to hospital suffering from head injuries after being attacked from behind.

His condition is not life-threatening, though he has been left with serious injuries following the attack, which is believed to have occurred in the vicinity of Keith Road.

Detective Inspector Elly Maggs of the West Area Command Unit CID said: “It is vital that we identify, locate and apprehend the male responsible for these unprovoked and extremely violent attacks as a matter of urgency.

“If you have any information that could assist this investigation, please do not hesitate to call us.”
