A stray cat who looked destined to spend the rest of his life in an animal shelter has found a happy ending at long last.
BenBen the stray ginger cat suffered a crushed spine, lacerations and a cauliflower ear, which meant he was scheduled to be put down.
Shelter staff said the cat, whose excess skin makes him look permanently sad, stopped eating, drinking and even moving in what were supposed to be his final days.
Thankfully, one kind stranger decided to take BenBen home, giving him the chance he so badly deserved and it turned his life around.
Staff at the BC SPCA shelter (British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) believed BenBen had been attacked by a large animal, which left him a bad state.
In fact, he had been deemed āun-adoptableā after vets said heād never walk again and would need to be on painkillers for the rest of his life.
The cat was due to be euthanised when a kindhearted woman, who heard about him through the emergency vet clinic where she worked, visited the shelter and offered to adopt him.
Her boyfriend told LoveMeow: āWe managed to get everything sorted out the day before his scheduled euthanisation and brought him to his forever home.ā
Within an hour of settling into his new home, BenBen was purring loudly and showing affection to his new owner.
Now, months later, heās living the life that every cat deserves - a happy one filled with love.
And heās even proven vets wrong, as he can now walk, run and even jump a little too. We love a happy ending.
