Monday marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, the literal and figurative poster boy for Cuban communism.
Guevara, who earned his nickname thanks to his frequent use of the word “che”, was shot dead by Bolivian troops on 9 October 1967.
A major figure in the Cuban revolution, Guevara went on to become a symbol of counter-culturalism around the world, and his image continues to be emblazoned on anything from posters to T-shirts to this day.
But how much do you actually know about the man in the beret?
