Chris Evans Is Smiling Again After Meeting Up With His Friend James Corden Following ‘Top Gear’ Departure

That's what friends are for...

In times of strife it’s good to know you’ve got a friend who can put the smile back on your face, and that’s exactly what James Corden did for his pal Chris Evans on Wednesday.

The pair were spotted having breakfast together in central London, where James was seen putting a reassuring arm around the former ‘Top Gear’ host, just days after he announced he was quitting the BBC motoring show.

There were plenty of smiles too, especially from the Radio 2 Breakfast Show host, who was also joined by broadcaster Danny Baker.

Maybe James was giving Chris, 50, some advice after finding huge success with ‘The Late Late Show’ in the US, despite many thinking he would fail to pull in the viewers.

On Monday, Chris announced he was quitting ‘Top Gear’ after fronting just one series of the revamped show.

He confirmed the news on Twitter, claiming that he had given it his “best shot”.

Chris told his 2.31million followers: “Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.”

The star had signed a three-year deal to front the BBC Two motoring show following Jeremy Clarkson‘s departure last year.

Chris’ announcement came less than 24 hours after the final episode of his inaugural series aired.

Sadly, the ratings for the six-episode run were less than impressive, and the finale pulled in an average of just 1.9 million viewers.
