Who knew that all it would take for the entire country to talk about something other than the B-word would be a very public spat between two footballers’ wives?

On Wednesday morning Coleen Rooney revealed she’d been doing a bit of digging to try and establish how fake stories she had planted were turning up in the press.

In a very public statement, she pointed the finger at a friend and fellow footballer’s wife.

And the iconic phrase “It’s... Rebekah Vardy’s account” was born.

It didn’t take long for Twitter to get to work.
