John Travolta cemented his position as The World’s Greatest Celebrity on Monday night when he made another epic on-stage blunder.

The Hollywood star was tasked with handing out the Video Of The Year award to Taylor Swift at this year’s MTV VMAs, but things didn’t go quite to plan.

When Taylor was announced as the winner for her You Need To Calm Down clip, she was joined on stage by an array of names from the LGBTQ community, who feature in the video.

One of those luminaries included RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jade Jolie.

Drag Race fans will know that Jade was a contestant on the fifth season of the show, and portrayed Taylor in the Snatch Game Challenge.

So this might explain why John attempted to hand over the award to a bemused Jade instead of you know, the biggest pop star on the planet.

Yes, we’re getting Adele Dazeem flashbacks too...

And so was most of Twitter...

During her acceptance speech, Taylor appeared to take aim at Donald Trump after winning the biggest prize of the night.

At the end of the You Need To Calm Down video viewers are encouraged to sign a petition to endorse the Equality Act, a proposed piece of legislation that would enshrine into law protections for the LGBTQ community in the US.

While on stage, Taylor said “several points were made” with the visual piece, adding that the Equality Act had now attracted far more signatures than is required to receive a response from the White House.

She then tapped an imaginary watch on her wrist in an apparent dig at the US president’s inaction.
