Lorraine Kelly Tears Into Jennifer Arcuri Live On Good Morning Britain For Evading Questions

"What was the point of coming on TV if you're not going to say anything?" Lorraine asked shortly after the live GMB interview.

Lorraine Kelly laid into Jennifer Arcuri during today’s Good Morning Britain, accusing her of “not answering any questions” that were put to her during the interview.

Jennifer was a guest on Monday’s GMB, where she declined to speak explicitly about the nature of her relationship with prime minister Boris Johnson.

When asked by Susanna Reid if she’d had an “affair” with Johnson, Jennifer said: “I’m not going to answer that question, but as you can tell, there was a very special relationship there.

“When it did come out, half the people already assumed the affair and told me to admit it. The other half wanted me to deny, deny, deny.”

Immediately after the interview ended, Susanna and co-host Piers Morgan threw to a live video-link with fellow ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly, to discuss what was coming up on her show.

Clearly, though, Lorraine was more in the mood to talk about what she’d just watched.

“God that was crazy, wasn’t it?” she began. “That was… what was the point? Coming on, and not answering any questions. [What was] the point of that?”

Addressing Jennifer directly, she continued: “It doesn’t make any sense, what was the point of you coming on and then not saying anything?

A clearly shocked Jennifer responded simply “I’m sorry?”, to which Lorraine responded: “What was the point of you coming on TV to clear the air and then you don’t say anything?”

Jennifer admitted she “believes she said a few things” but Lorraine was evidently not convinced, telling her: “You didn’t answer any of the questions that were put to you. I just don’t see the point of you coming on, to be honest.”

After her exchange with Lorraine, Jennifer told Susanna Reid: “You all have already made up your minds. Why do I need to say this? You already knew before I said anything. You asked me how many times?”

Shortly after her appearance on GMB, Jennifer spoke about the interview during an appearance on Victoria Derbyshire’s BBC show.

“The fact that I’m called out, [like on] GMB, because ‘why I am here if I’m not here to admit the affair?’” she began. “Well wait a minute, I’m not allowed to be upset because somebody that was very much a part of my life, who knew what I stood for, the calibre and integrity and merit that I work at. I mean all these things he knew and he sat back, why?”

This isn’t the first time that one of GMB’s live link-ups with Lorraine has proved to be controversial, with the daytime presenter previously throwing shade at her former GMTV co-presenter, Esther McVey, who is now a Conservative politician.

Lorraine later said her behaviour was influenced by McVey’s stance on LGBTQ issues.

Good Morning Britain airs every weekday from 6am on ITV.
