Love Island's Michael And Joanna Share Mightily Awkward Aftersun Reunion

Although some fans have predicted she will end up taking him back.

Dumped Love Island contestant Michael Griffiths was brought face to face with former partner Joanna Chimonides in an awkward reunion during Sunday’s night’s Aftersun.

The pair were brought together after Michael was voted off the ITV2 reality series, following his admission to ex Amber Gill that he still had feelings for her.

And, having been left fuming at watching Michael’s attempts to rekindle things with Amber, Joanna wasn’t exactly thrilled to see the firefighter again.

Joanna also showed little enthusiasm when Michael said he was interested in continuing his relationship with her, despite his feelings for Amber.

Host Caroline Flack asked about a potential rekindling, to which he responded: “I want to speak to Joanna to be honest, I know she’s not really thinking about that.”

Joanna shook her head, before saying: “I think it is hard because when you’re in the villa, you really get confused. It is a difficult one."

Asking what had changed about Michael’s feelings for him to attempt to crack on with Amber behind her back, she said: “I thought we had something really good, I went away and two days later it was totally different.”

Michael claimed that it was possible to have feelings for two people at the same time, to which she responded: “But the problem is, I asked you several times.”

Michael also explained why he didn’t follow Joanna out of the villa when she was voted off.

“It was a bit of a test,” he said. “I wasn’t going to quit on the whole process thing and I wasn’t going to leave my friends.”

And while relations seemed frosty between Michael and Joanna, fans have predicted things will start to thaw...

One person who certainly doesn’t want Joanna to take him back though is Anton Danyluk’s mum Sherrie-Ann.

She could be heard heckling during the pair’s interview, shouting: “Don’t do it, Joanna!”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
