Love Island fans were full of praise for contestant Shaughna Phillips in Thursday night’s show, after the way she behaved in the most brutal recoupling of the series.

Shaughna had been paired with fellow Islander Callum Jones since they both entered the villa, with viewers following the ups and downs of their complicated romance over the last three weeks.

However, after they were pulled apart in the Casa Amor twist (who could forget Shaughna’s reaction when she found out he’d left “without giving [her] a chance to threaten him”), Callum found his head was turned by newcomer Molly Smith.

When the two villas were finally reunited as part of Thursday’s recoupling, it was revealed that Callum had chosen to ditch Shaughna, and couple up with Molly instead.

This means that Shaughna’s place in the villa may well be in jeopardy, as she found herself the last original single girl standing.

Despite her days in the villa potentially being numbered, and her previous admission that she might walk if Callum were to couple up with someone else, Shaughna kept it cool and collected, winning her huge praise from viewers…

It should be noted, though, that the episode did abruptly end soon after the news broke that Callum had paired up with Molly, so Shaughna’s stoic reaction could well be the calm before the storm.

As well as Shaughna, Islander Demi Jones could also be facing the axe, after her original partner Nas Majeed made the decision to pair up with Casa Amor resident Eva Zapico.

Other existing Islanders made the decision to stick with the contestants they were already partnered up with, including Luke T and Finley, who remain with Siânnise and Paige, respectively.

Love Island airs every night on ITV2.
