Police are investigating footage that could show the moment a gunman fired the shots that killed journalist Lyra McKee, during rioting in Londonderry on Thursday night.
The video, posted to YouTube and later released by police as part of a montage of clips, appears to show an individual firing two shots from behind a wall.
After the individual retreats, others go to the spot where they stood and appear to pick things up off the ground.
The “shocking and senseless” killing of McKee in Londonderry was carried out by “violent dissident republicans”, Northern Irish police has said.
McKee was standing near a police vehicle and was fatally wounded. She was taken to hospital by officers but later died.
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) assistant chief constable Mark Hamilton said: “Our assessment at this time would be that the New IRA is the most likely to be behind this and that forms our primary line of inquiry.”
A tweet from the PSNI released the clip as part of a longer video showing different views of the shooting and appealed for information from the public.
McKee was killed for doing her job, a vigil in Londonderry has heard.
The 29-year-old was prepared to take calculated risks in pursuit of a story but was too intelligent to be fearless, the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) said.
Members held a rally outside the Guildhall in the city on Friday evening after the precocious young journalist was shot by dissident republicans targeting police in the city.
