Man Dies After Falling From Kew Bridge

A man has died after falling from Kew Bridge, West London.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 12.45pm today to reports of two men having fallen from the bridge, which sits 75ft above the water.

A second man was pulled from the water and has been taken to a major trauma centre.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12:37pm today to reports of an incident on Corney Reach Way, Chiswick.

“We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, two medics in cars and an advanced paramedic to the scene. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART) and London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated two men at the scene.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene.

“We took the second man to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

A crew from Chiswick RNLI station had pulled two men from the water within four minutes of launching, a spokesperson said.

They said: “Two people were rescued from the River Thames by RNLI crew and were placed in the care of London Ambulance Service.”

The Met Police have confirmed a second man was taken to a hospital and West London, and stated they were currently awaiting an update on his condition.

London Fire Brigade have confirmed they attended the incident however were not required to provide further assistance, stating that the coastguard had taken the lead on the rescue operation.
