Body Found In Wheelie Bin Behind Waitrose Is Identified As Italian Man

The 23-year-old's family has been informed of his death.

A man whose body was found in a wheelie bin in north London has been identified as a 23-year-old Italian national.

The formal identification of Erik San-Filippo comes after police were called to Tollington Road, Islington, on Saturday, amid reports of the discovery of human remains.

A post-mortem examination has proven inconclusive and further tests are being carried out.

A man’s body has been discovered inside a wheelie bin near the back of a Waitrose supermarket in north London.

Scotland Yard say police were called to Tollington Road, #N7 just before 4.00pm.

A large crime scene remains in place.

San-Filippo’s next of kin have been informed of his death, which is being treated as unexplained.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 12 May on suspicion of murder and has been bailed to return on a date in mid-June.
