Remember way back at the start of lockdown when everyone became a bit obsessed with remixes of the BBC News theme after a weather presenter did a drum solo to it?

Well now BBC North West’s Owain Wyn Evans has done it again – this time with the Match Of The Day theme.

The weather presenter teamed up with BBC News’ Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg for a special version of the famous footy tune to celebrate the game’s return.

Owain was back behind his drum kit accompanied by Steve on keys for a video shared on Match Of The Day’s social accounts.

“This is how you celebrate the return of the Premier League!” the caption read.

Owain called it an “unexpected but fabulous turn of events” on Twitter.

Owain became a viral sensation back in April when he posted a video of himself dashing to his drum kit after he finished presenting his forecast from home, so he could play along to the closing music.

He tweeted: “When they said try working from home I didn’t realise they’d expect me to do the music too.”

It wasn’t long before his employers got wind of the video and invited him on the BBC News channel for a special live rendition.

Owain said: “We are all trying to find ways of keeping our spirits up during this difficult time of lockdown, and it is great that this has proved such a hit.

“It started out as a fun idea and has really caught on.

“The tune itself is obviously a bit of a banger anyway, and I knew it would sound brilliant on the drums.”

Fans have given his version of the Match Of The Day tune the thumbs up too...
