A murder investigation has been launched after a man died after being stabbed in Hackney, east London, police said.

A second man was also stabbed nearby, but survived.

Officers were called at around 2:43pm on Friday to reports of a 29-year-old man suffering stab injuries on Frampton Park Road.

London Ambulance Service attended the scene and the man was taken to an east London hospital where he subsequently died. The man’s next of kin have been informed.

A second man, believed aged in his 20s, was found suffering stab injuries on Wilton Way. He has been taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

On Friday evening, a section of Frampton Park Road remained cordoned off with police tape and a police tent could be seen within the cordon.

A red object, which looked like a towel or item of clothing, could be seen lying in the road in front of the tent.

A youth worker who lives nearby, and gave her name as Hannah, said she went to school with one of the victims, adding that he is a “decent young man”.

She added: “He keeps himself to himself. He’s very pleasant when you see him.

Hannah said anti-social behaviour is common in the area.

“It’s got to the point that the kids don’t value lives any more. It’s just sad that this couldn’t have been prevented,” she said.

She said she heard emergency services performed open-heart surgery on him.

She said a particular car had been spotted in the area recently which she and neighbours had noticed.

“When you see a random vehicle you just look at it a little bit more,” she said, adding that neighbours noticed it a couple of times. It’s creepy to know that this happens,” she said.

Hannah said there is not enough people showing interest in the lives of local young people.

“These are our kids that are dying,” she said.

A man who lives in Exbury House, opposite Frampton Food, said: “It’s an estate isn’t it? What goes on goes on. It’s like all the estates.”

The man, who did not want to be named, said there was a stabbing on this same street three years ago.

Another woman who lives nearby, and who also did not want to be named, said she saw an air ambulance, adding: “I came out of my house moments after it happened.”

She said she thinks the air ambulance landed in a nearby school car park.

The woman also recalled that there has been similar incidents in this area in the past.
