Newborn Baby Fighting For Life After Pregnant Mum Stabbed To Death

Two men arrested as newborn baby delivered at scene after its mother was stabbed to death is critically ill in hospital.

A heavily pregnant woman who was stabbed to death has been named as Kelly Mary Fauvrelle.

The 26-year-old who was around eight months pregnant was stabbed to death in Croydon, south London and a murder investigation has been launched following what detectives have described as a “horrific incident.”

Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a woman in cardiac arrest at an address in Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath, Croydon, at around 3.30am on Saturday.

The victim was found with stab injuries and died at the scene where her baby was also delivered.

The baby is in hospital in a critical condition Scotland Yard has revealed this morning.

Scotland Yard said: “Detectives investigating the murder of a pregnant woman in Croydon have made a second arrest and have named the victim as Kelly Mary Fauvrelle.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, June 29 on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.

“A 37-year-old male arrested that same day has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”

Forensics teams were still investigating the scene of the murder on Sunday morning and police are believed to be preparing to carry out a thorough sweep of the road.

Specialist investigators could be seen swabbing surfaces in an alleyway running along the side of the house while police officers guarded a cordon at the front of the property.

Medics fought to save the mother after an air ambulance, two ambulance crews and two response cars were sent to the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

The force said the woman’s next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Neighbours said that three woman, one of whom was pregnant, lived at the house and they had a small dog.

One neighbour said she had got up at about 3.30am to do her prayers when she heard a dog barking at the house, which is two doors down.

The neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said she was “shocked and surprised” to hear about the attack.

A police cordon is in place around the two-storey semi-detached house.
