Piers Morgan has branded BBC Breakfast rival Dan Walker the “dullest snivelling sycophant” in a row over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Good Morning Britain presenter clashed with Dan after launching yet another attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – this time over their ITV documentary.

Piers had kicked things off by tweeting about the cameras following the royal couple’s recent tour of Africa, writing: “Imagine being two staggeringly privileged royal multi-millionaires going to Africa to make a documentary that supposedly ‘shines a light’ on poverty, violence against women/girls & racial inequality - then in fact making it all about their own terrible struggle? I mean, FFS.”

Dan soon hit out at Piers’ comments accusing him of “picking on” Meghan for previously declining to meet with him socially – something he has referenced in his Daily Mail column.

Dan wrote: “Imagine being given a TV show & a newspaper column & using them both to pick on a woman who didn’t want to go out for a second drink with you.”

Piers then turned personal, calling Dan “the dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV”.

He added: “PS For the record, I never asked Meghan for a drink, she asked me.”

Dan was seemingly amused at Piers’ irritation, tweeting: “Imagine losing the plot (and the argument) to the “dullest, most excruciatingly virtue-signalling, tediously opinion-devoid, toe-curlingly snivelling sycophant on TV #TearsForPiers.”

Piers replied: “Mate, the only thing I lose when jousting with you is the will to live.”

Piers’ tweet about Harry and Meghan had also drawn criticism from his GMB co-presenter Susanna Reid, who claimed the couple’s documentary was “important”.

“Most of it was about the charity work they do. Hugely important,” she wrote. “It was also an insight into their personal state of mind. Also important.”

Piers disagreed, writing: “Zero press/TV headlines about their charity work today. Nor any about William & Kate’s very successful but now completely overshadowed tour.

“It’s all about Meghan & Harry’s terrible ordeal ‘existing’ in lavish royal splendour at our expense. Shockingly selfish & tone deaf.”

Piers has been a vocal critic of Meghan and Harry over the course of their relationship, previously penning a column for the Daily Mail accusing the Duchess of being a “ruthless” social climber and ditching their friendship after she first reached out via Twitter.

“I knew her for about a year and a half, got on really well with her,” he wrote in December 2018.

“When someone more important and influential came along, in the shape of Prince Harry, I was instantly dumped like a sack of spuds.”

He recently accused Meghan and Harry of trying to “bully the press into fawning sycophancy” over their plans to sue the Mail On Sunday amid allegations the paper unlawfully published one of the Duchess’ private letters.

Piers has also regularly clashed with Dan on Twitter, but their online spats are usually reserved to rows about ratings for their respective breakfast shows.
