RuPaul’s Drag Race bosses have revealed details of how this year’s finale will work, revealing the top queens will compete in a lip sync for their crown from their own homes.
On Saturday, the final episode of Drag Race recorded before lockdown will debut on Netflix here in the UK, with two further instalments left to air in the current series.
Entertainment Weekly has now revealed how these final two episodes will work, beginning with a “virtual slumber party”, which will serve as this year’s reunion.
During the episode, all of the queens – apart from Sherry Pie, who was disqualified shortly before the series began airing – will discuss life in quarantine with RuPaul via video-link, as well as sharing highlights from the series so far.
The following week will be the grand finale, during which the remaining four queens will compete in a lip sync for the crown using what’s been described as “boundary-pushing technology” to highlight their creativity.
There’ll also be appearances from reigning champion Yvie Oddly and other “secret celebrities”. Nina West will also return to crown this year’s Miss Congeniality.
At the time of writing, five queens are left in the competition: Jackie Cox, Jaida Essence Hall, Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Sherry Pie.
However, it was already confirmed that Sherry Pie will not be in the running for the crown, as she was disqualified by producers due to allegations that surfaced shortly before season 12 began airing.
