Two Dead After British Tourist Falls From Balcony At Marbella Resort

The British man reportedly plummeted from the seventh floor of the hotel, striking another man as he fell.

Two people have died after a British man fell from the seventh story of a Marbella hotel, according to local reports.

The unnamed British tourist, identified as being around 50 years old by reporters close to the scene, is believed to have plummeted from a balcony, striking a second man – reported to be a local – as he landed.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been fully explained.

ABCandalucía said the incident took place shortly before 2am on Sunday morning at the five-star Gran Melia Don Pepe hotel, with emergency services pronouncing the two men dead at the scene of the incident.

A spokesperson for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the death of a British national to HuffPost UK, adding: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Spain and are in touch with the local police.”

The Metro reported a statement from the National Police in Malaga, which is investigating the incident. A spokesperson said: “I can confirm two men have died at a hotel in Marbella after one plunged from the seventh-floor and landed on top of another.

“We are investigating.”
