Italian fashion house Versace is to be sold to Michael Kors Holdings for 2.1 billion US dollars (£1.6 billion), the US company has confirmed.
Michael Kors said the company will be renamed Capri Holdings once the acquisition is completed.
The Versace management team will continue to be led by its chief executive Jonathan Akeroyd.
Donatella Versace, who is currently the creative director and vice president of the Italian fashion house, will become a shareholder in Carpi Holdings as a result of the deal.
