A police investigation has been launched after a vulnerable man was “stripped naked” and assaulted by a gang of youths.

The victim, 20, was attacked on Tuesday evening in Brookvale Park, Birmingham.

According to a bystander, he was forcibly removed of his clothes in the “disgusting” incident.

“I saw him running up North Park Road, naked, covered in blood, wailing,” the Birmingham Mail quoted the witness as saying.

“Horrible little b*****ds in the park had attacked and stripped him. Parents of the little hoodrats need to come and collect their disgusting children and teach them how to behave.”

Reportedly writing on Facebook, the witness added that the young man “doesn’t bother anybody” and said that she and other witnesses called his carer to explain what had happened.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson told HuffPost UK: “We were called at 10.13pm to the junction of North Park Road and Muscovy Road and sent an ambulance to the scene.

“On arrival we discovered a man who was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to hospital for further assessment.”

West Midlands police confirmed to HuffPost UK that it is aware of the incident, and an investigation is underway.

The 20-year-old was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, the force has confirmed.

Officers are examining CCTV and asking anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 anytime or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 2655 of 10/9.
