Detectives investigating the death of a woman at an east London flat want to speak with anyone who saw a naked man walking in the area.

Tiparat Argatu died from neck and head injuries at a property in Ellen Street, Whitechapel, on the morning of Sunday January 24.

The 43-year-old from Thailand had moved to London in September last year to be with her husband, the Metropolitan Police said.

David Cheres, 19, who is thought to have known the victim but is not related to her, has been charged with murder. Nobody else is being sought in connection with the death.

Detectives believe a man was walking naked in the area between 4am and 9am on the morning of Argatu’s death.

“They wish to speak with anyone who saw this man, or who found clothing discarded near to the scene in Ellen Street,” Scotland Yard said in an appeal for witnesses.

Cheres, of Ellen Street, appeared at the Old Bailey last week and is next due at the same court on April 16.
