Woman Chose To Give Birth Live On Facebook

Her partner filmed the labour in hospital.

A woman chose the wonder of social media to air her labour and birth to the world.

Her partner, Fakamalo Kihe Eiki, filmed her labour live from approximately 3.30pm on Monday 16 May and posted it on Facebook.

The mum, whose name is unknown, can be seen lying in bed with medical staff speaking around her during the video.

"What we want you to do is hold your legs back and push down into your bottom on your next contraction," the midwife said during the recording.

Around 4pm, halfway through the video, the woman had dilated 10cm and was being instructed to push for 10 seconds each time.

She frequently looked up at the camera to her partner in between pushes.

At times, her partner was heard singing: "There's gonna be a baby coming out!"

The video, that lasts 45 minutes, shows the moment the woman gave birth and has her newborn son placed on her chest.

"Baby's out, baby's out!" Eiki said, before tearing up behind the camera.

"I'm so happy right now."
