Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a building containing maisonettes on Acacia Road in Wood Green just before 10pm, according to the London Fire Brigade.

Some of those evacuated needed breathing apparatus, and three people required ambulance treatment, the brigade said in a statement. They did not require hospital treatment.

A brigade spokesman said the blaze had been brought under control two-and-a-half hours after firefighters arrived at the scene.
