Andrew Watson

Author of 'Down to Earth with a Bump' and parenting adviser and commentator

Andrew Watson is a parenting author, adviser, speaker and commentator, well known for his expertise on modern parenting, and fatherhood in particular. Frequently asked to contribute to debates and features across the media, he appears regularly in print, on television and on national radio.

Andrew is a spokesperson for Munch Time 2013 - the annual children's story writing competition - which encourages parents to showcase their creative talents and also spend time bonding with their children over story time. Visit www.munchtime.co.uk.

As a journalist and author, he has written widely for parenting magazines and online references, and also published several books, including a popular guide for new dads for the acclaimed Teach Yourself series covering the many practical and emotional issues faced by the modern father. As an objective reference, it’s the perfect complement to his honest and entertaining diary of first-time fatherhood, ‘Down To Earth With A Bump’.

Andrew is a 35 year-old father of two, a five-year old girl and a two year-old boy. Since becoming a parent, he has been a full-time sole earner, one half of a dual career couple, and a stay-at-home dad and partner to a full-time working mother. It’s this breadth of experience, together with his knowledge of the subject and his ability to share insightfully and entertainingly, that results in regular invitations to lead seminars with parenting groups across the country.

By sharing the lesser-heard male perspective and his own family’s experiences, their struggles as well as their successes, Andrew has helped mothers and fathers around the country to share their own challenges and solutions, and prompted insights into how we can all take advantage of what modern parenthood offers, both at home and at work.
