Dan Glass is an award-winning activist, academic, performer and writer who was named as one of Attitude Magazine’s campaigning role models for LGBTQI youth, and a Guardian "UK youth climate leader." An agitator from the Training for Transformation educational program born out of the anti-apartheid movement, the core of Dan's work is the development of critical consciousness and creativity to spur people "to read their reality and write their own history." Life is beautiful, and so during this festive period, I'm going to be eating, drinking, spending time with loved ones, planning more protests ... and hoping that Santa comes down the chimney with plenty of menorahs and sacks of bulls**t.
Despite the outsized media platform given to them, we know that UKIP's poisonous views are not in line with the majority of the British people. We are part of a growing coalition of community groups opposed to UKIP's right-wing rhetoric and ready to challenge them all the way to the general election..
As the epidemic continues to rage today, we need ACT UP's inspiring message more than ever. I am endlessly amazed by the difference between the public and the private face of HIV in the UK; between the shiny NGO propaganda and the hard reality on the ground; between the grandiose intentions of HIV policy-makers and what is happening in practice.
