Humanitarian Affairs Manager for UNICEF in Syria

Iliana Mourad works as a Humanitarian Affairs Manager for UNICEF, the world’s leading organisation for children, in Syria, coordinating field operations and emergency distributions, as well as working with partner agencies to monitor activities. Iliana trained and worked as a medical doctor in her home country, Bulgaria, for over eight years before joining the International Committee of the Red Cross as an anaesthetist and intensive care doctor in Sierra Leone. Since then, Iliana has been part of emergency response teams in a number of countries including East Timor, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Guinea Equatorial, Indonesia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Iliana joined UNICEF in 2011 as the head of UNICEF’s office in Benghazi in Libya, and started her current assignment in Syria in September 2012.
