John A Clark

John A Clark (MA, MSc, PhD) is Professor of Computer and Information Security within the Department of Computer Science within the Engineering Faculty of the University of Sheffield. He leads the Security of Advanced Systems Research Group there.

He studied mathematics and then applied statistics at Oxford before taking up a position in the security division of the software and systems house Logica. He joined academia in 1992 as Lecturer in Safety Critical Systems and appointed to a personal chair in critical systems in 2005. He specialises in the application of artificial intelligence and operations research to security and high integrity software validation and verification. He was a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit award holder 2013-2017 and has been author or co-author of 11 prize winning research papers.
