Simon Maxwell

International development research and policy advisor.

Simon Maxwell is a development economist with a career spanning forty years in development action, research and advisory work. He spent ten years overseas, in Kenya, India and Bolivia, first with the United Nations Development Programme and then with the British aid programme. For fifteen years, he was a Fellow of the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. From 1997-2009, he was Director of the Overseas Development Institute, the UK's leading independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian issues. He currently holds a number of posts - see www.simonmaxwell.eu. Simon Maxwell is a former President of the Development Studies Association of the UK and Ireland. In 2007, he was awarded a CBE for services to international development.
