Phone Hacking: Hugh Grant To Give Evidence To Parliament Injunctions Committee

Hugh Grant To Give More Evidence On Phone Hacking At Injunction Committee

Actor Hugh Grant is set to renew his assault on shady journalistic practices when he gives evidence to politicians.

The Four Weddings and About A Boy star is giving evidence to the Joint Committee on Privacy and Injunctions.

Comedian Steve Coogan and former F1 boss Max Mosley are also due to speak to the MPs and peers.

Grant made a high-profile appearance before the Leveson inquiry into media ethics last month in which delivered a series of allegations about intrusion.

He suggested the Mail on Sunday may have hacked his voicemail messages to get a story about his conversations with a "plummy-voiced" woman - a claim the newspaper flatly denied.

He also made allegations - again denied - that The Sun invaded his privacy by publishing details of his medical records. He said he had brought between six and 10 libel actions over the past 17 years.

Coogan told Leveson that reporters had been through his rubbish bins, looking for "lurid" details of his private life. The comedian, most famous for playing comedy character Alan Partridge, also denied a tabloid story from 2007 suggesting he took drugs with a US actor.

He insisted that although some people entered a "Faustian pact" with the press, he had never sought fame and was a private person.

Mr Mosley described the impact of an article falsely claiming an orgy he went to was Nazi-themed.

He told the inquiry his son, who has since died, resumed taking drugs as he could not bear having seen the photographs.
