A police officer is reported to have been shot in an incident at the US’s Virginia Tech university campus, scene of a gun massacre four years ago, and a second potential victim has been reported in a car park.
A suspect has been apprehended on the steps of the performing arts building on College Ave, according to the Virginia Tech student newspaper's Twitter account.
In 2007, a gunman opened fire at Virginia Tech, leaving 33 people dead. It was the worst mass shooting in US history.
One person wearing a grey shirt and jeans surrendered but is not under arrest, and according to the Collegiate Times.
The 2011 shooting occurred on the same day as Virginia Tech was appealing against a $55,000 fine by the U.S. Education Department.
