Witchcraft Trial: Eric Bikubi and Magalie Bamu Jailed For Kristy Bamu's Death

Witchcraft Trial Pair Jailed For Murder Of 15-Year-Old Boy Who 'Begged To Die'

A woman who accused her younger brother of being a witch and tortured him to death has been jailed along with her accomplice boyfriend for a total of 55 years.

The teenager was attacked with knives, sticks, metal bars, and a hammer and chisel but refused to admit to sorcery and witchcraft. Kristy was tortured so horrifically at the hands of his sister and her partner on Christmas Day in 2010 he "begged to die" and eventually drowned in a bath.

Football coach Bikubi, 28, forced Kristy and the boy's four siblings to pray for "deliverance" and deprived them of food and water. Kristy was subjected to a "prolonged attack of unspeakable savagery and brutality" by the pair, the jury was told.

The court heard Kristy was singled out after wetting his pants and struck in the mouth with a heavy bar and hammer, knocking out his teeth.

The terrified siblings, who also included a 13-year-old boy and an autistic brother aged 22, were made to join in the torture.

At one point, Bikubi told the youngsters to jump out of the window to see if they could fly, the court heard.

Kristy's sister Kelly, who appeared in court as a witness, told the jury during the trial Magalie was an "idiot".

"I am sure she still believes even to this day that we are witches.

"I have no pity for her. She had no pity for us."

At the end of the torture "session", the children were placed in a bath to be hosed down in cold water with a shower head. Kristy had 130 separate injuries and died from a combination of being beaten and drowning.
