Single Mum Pregnant At 12 'Would Be Happy' If Daughter Gave Birth At Same Age (PICTURES)

A former schoolgirl who first gave birth at the age of 12 and then again at 16 says there are advantages to being a teenage mother, and that she’d be ‘happy’ if her daughter followed in her footsteps.

Amy Crowhurst, now 22, fell pregnant at the age of 12 after having sex for the first time. Daughter Destiny was later joined by son Alfie, with both children sharing the same father.

She told Closer magazine: “Having sex at 12 is fine if you feel ready and aren’t pressured.”

Amy, who plans to return to college to get GCSEs in maths and English, added: “Having kids young was the smartest thing I ever did. I’ve had lots of energy for them and life’s beginning for me now at an age when I can enjoy myself – I have the freedom to meet mates and go clubbing when my mum babysits.”

The family-of-three live in a council house in Crawley, West Sussex, and Amy says she’s put her wild past – which includes a conviction for growing cannabis and an eviction for throwing “wild drug-fuelled parties” – behind her.

Commenting on how she’d feel if Destiny were to fall pregnant at a young age, she said: “If she had a baby at 12, I know she’d cope and I’d be happy for her. Women shouldn’t put off having kids young – it makes you a better mum.”
