The wife of Rolf Harris has spoken about the couple’s torment since his arrest for alleged sexual offences.
Alwen Hughes told a friend neither she nor her husband had been able to sleep since the allegations arose.
Quoting Hughes, the friend the told Sunday Mirror: “My poor husband, it’s terrible, we’ve been really worrying about it. We’ve both been having sleepless nights over it all.”

The friend added: “Rolf is a lovely, loyal devoted husband and father and I can’t imagine him ever doing anything to tarnish his image. His wife was grateful for my call. She said it was good to know who their real friends are.”
Harris was named on Friday as the TV entertainer who was arrested by police investigating allegations of sexual abuse in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.
The 83-year-old was first interviewed under caution on November 29 after attending a south London police premises by appointment.
The father-of-one was then arrested on March 28, two days before his 83rd birthday and denies any wrongdoing.
According to the Sydney Sunday Telegraph, detectives plan to fly to Harris’s native Australia to interview two potential witnesses.
In 2011 Harris revealed he had been suffering from clinical depression in an interview with Piers Morgan.
Referring to it as a “black pit” that he “couldn’t see out of” he broke down as he admitted he had "neglected" Hughes and their daughter Bindi during his career.
