US international and former Everton player Landon Donovan has spoken of his sadness over the plight of Manchester United manager David Moyes, who is widely expected to be given the sack by the club’s hierarchy before the weekend following a poor run of form that has seen the champions plummet in the Premiere League.

"It’s hard to see him treated in this way," said Donovan, who was taken to the northwest under Moyes' tutelage. However, the LA Galaxy striker conceded that despite the Scot being "a great manager but also a good person" the buck did stop with him for United’s demise.
