Menza posted it to YouTube with the following explanation: “I was standing in my front yard with my two boys and this is what we saw. Not sure what it is but it’s totally awesome!”
Former Megadeth drummer Nick Menza filmed this footage on 14 July

Naturally thus followed a stream of invective, accusing Menza of, among other things, using the footage to drum up publicity for his upcoming book.

Menza, who played with Megadeth from 1989 to 1998, had this reply for his detractors: “Some people claim what I saw was fake and an act to create a publicity stunt to gain hype around my book release, that’s not the case.
“My book is complete and it won’t be released until some time next year, I have nothing to gain from this.”
