A local photographer has captured the surreal moment four horses were stranded on a shrinking island after a river burst its banks in Scotland.
The River Dulnain in Inverness-shire flooded after heavy rains over the weekend, leaving the horses trapped for a whole day on the tiny strip of land.
Photographer Mark Hamblin took the photos of the four animals perched on their island. He said they were stranded all day, but did not seem distressed.
It was decided that there was no need for a rescue mission as the horses were not in immediate danger.
The water levels are receding and the island is getting bigger all the time, Hamblin told The Huffington Post UK.
The horses are being monitored, and there is only light rain today so the four look set to escape from the island soon.
