Britain's Most Haunted Buildings: From London Pubs To Remote Scottish Castles

The 40 Most Haunted Buildings In Britain

If you’re planning on trick or treating this Halloween, you might want to think twice before knocking on the doors of these particular houses…

Comprising the 40 most haunted buildings in Britain, this graphic takes in the most notable ghostly stomping grounds from northern Scotland right down to the tip of Cornwall.

Compiled by Atlantis Property, the list includes London’s Grenadier Pub, said to be haunted by a soldier who was beaten and killed for cheating during a game of cards with his fellow compatriots.

Glamis Castle, in Angus, Scotland, also makes the grade, where among the many spirits said to inhabit its grounds is the ghost of the Monster of Glamis – a “horribly deformed” boy who was kept locked up and hidden from view for all of his life.

A spokesman for Atlantis Property told Huffington Post UK: "Our Reading office is close to The Hobgoblin pub which is said to be haunted and while none of us have seen Bob (the resident poltergeist) ourselves, it got us thinking.

"Britain has a rich and gruesome history, and our research uncovered a wealth of properties that lay claim to not only a supernatural presence, but horror stories that would make even the bravest of souls want to sleep with the light on!

"Many of these stories have become local legends and we thought it time to share them with the rest of the UK."
