While training for Channel 4 show ‘The Jump’, Ola suffered a serious incident that forced her to pull out of the competition, and miss the last few weeks of ‘Strictly’ group dances.
There will also be three new additions to the dancing line-up, with ‘Dancing With The Stars’ professional Gleb Savchenko joining the UK version of the series, as are Giovanni Pernice and Otlile Mabuse.
Executive producer Louise Rainbow said: “We are thrilled with our pro-dancer line-up this year. Not only are some of the viewers’ favourites returning but we also have some exciting new dancers joining the ‘Strictly’ family.”
Earlier this year, Ola admitted she “would love to go back on ‘Strictly’”, despite not exactly being full of praise for the show in the past.
Last year, she hit out at the current judging panel in an interview, claiming: “The professional dancers are being swapped every year, we have new presenters, so why not swap judges? Len [Goodman] is the only one who knows about ballroom.
“They all make a fortune. We get OK money. But compared to the judges? They sit one day a week and get a lot more than the dancers. Is that fair?”
Bruno Tonioli later responded, saying that if any of the professionals on ‘Strictly’ had a problem with their pay packet they should “stop moaning and f*** off”.
Let’s hope they’ve kissed and made up by the time the new series kicks off later this year.
