Facebook has unveiled a stripped down version of its app to help people who have less data and storage gain quick access to the social media site.
Launching in Asia today, Facebook Lite is less than 1MB in size and will allow Android users to scroll through their news feeds, receive notifications, access photos and write status updates.
By removing video, which requires a lot of data to play on mobile, the app will allow users who have a limited bandwidth and poor network coverage to still load Facebook relatively quickly.
Facebook Lite is launching in Asia today and will roll out to Latin America, Europe and Africa in the coming weeks. We like.
