The John Lewis adverts have become a Christmas institution in recent years, so it’s no surprise that there’s already been plenty of speculation over which song will be soundtracking this year’s clip.

Despite the speculation, John Lewis bosses are determined to keep details of the ad’s storyline and soundtrack under wraps, and despite the fact it’s expected to be revealed next week, they’re even claiming that "a number [of tracks are] still under consideration".
A John Lewis spokesperson told NME: "Speculation about every element of our Christmas advert happens every year.
“However, we can confirm that at this point in time, neither the track nor the artist have been confirmed."
The John Lewis Christmas ad officially marks the start of the festive season for many, and last year’s Monty The Penguin clip was part of a huge £7 million marketing spend.
Tom Odell provided an emotional rendition of John Lennon’s ‘Real Love’ for the clip, while in previous years, the music has been provided by Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen and Gabrielle Aplin.
