John Lewis Christmas Advert 2015: #ManOnTheMoon Clip Features Singer Aurora Covering Oasis' ‘Half The World Away'

The 2015 John Lewis Christmas Ad Is FINALLY Here!

John Lewis’s 2015 Christmas advert has been revealed this morning (Friday 6 November), and there’s one question on everyone’s lips - what’s the deal with this year’s soundtrack?

As is tradition, John Lewis have found a previously unknown star - who will be catapulted to the top of the charts - nabbing Norwegian vocalist Aurora for a rendition of Oasis’s ‘Half The World Away’.

The advert pulls at the heart strings, but it's all for a good cause as this year's clip has been made in partnership with Age UK, to raise awareness of the millions of older people who go a month without speaking to a family member, friend or neighbour.

The company's customer director explains: "Our Christmas advert is once again all about going the extra mile to give someone the perfect gift.

"This year though, the story is told in a uniquely creative and engaging way as we see Lily, our heroine, go to great lengths to connect with the Man on the Moon.

“We hope it inspires people to find really special gifts for their loved ones and through our partnership with Age UK, raises awareness of the issue of loneliness amongst older people and encourages others to support in any way they can.”

Following its online premiere, the advert will be given its TV debut during Friday night's (6 November) 'Gogglebox', on channel 4.

Unlike in previous years, the brand didn’t manage to keep the singer’s identity under wraps, and it was revealed earlier this week that Aurora would be providing her vocals for the clip.

The star will be hoping for success similar to that of Tom Odell, who recorded a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Real Love’ for 2014’s emotional Monty The Penguin ad.

Tom’s track peaked at number 7 in the charts, however Lily Allen did even better with her Keane cover in 2013, which topped the charts.

Does this year’s ad beat John Lewis’s previous efforts? Watch them all below…
