What's the point anymore?

That's a thought that may pass your mind once you learn today's most depressing fact: one in three cat owners Skype their pet to say hello during that day.

If you're that one in three, shame on you.

A poll of 1,000 owners has revealed some pretty staggering stats including the fact that a quarter of male owners will call home just to hear their cat purring.

The poll was carried out by card retailer Hallmark, and reveals that ultimately, cats are just better company than humans.

Over half of those asked say they'd rather spend more time with their cat than another human being whilst 30 per cent of women would class their cat as a fully-fledged member of the family.

For men, being a cat owner is all about give and take with 37 per cent admitting to teaching their cat to perform tricks.

Presumably the survey has also determined that one in three cats has the ability to use Skype, or at least accept the call, without the appropriate motor skills or opposable digits for the task. Now THAT'S a poll finding.
