Google Maps is notorious for hiding certain places from plain view.

The number of controversial areas changes from time to time and an Australian news site has put together the latest list of secret locations the search engine giant has blurred out.

Without further ado, here they are:

Conspiracy theorists believe the blocked area, near the Washington and Oregon border, is linked to HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) - dubbed by critics as a "secret weapon" designed to control the weather. (credit:Huffington Post UK)

Nobody is entirely sure why these parts of the world, which fall under Denmark's jurisdiction, are blurred. Theories range from rumours of military activity to fishing rights. (credit:Huffington Post UK)
