Here are four helpful ways to approach weight loss:

1) Choose your treats wisely and don't treat everyday like a special occasion. Cake is good, but not all of the time.

2) When you go out for a meal with your friends, make sure it's you who's doing all of the talking. That way, you'll eat your meal slower and, naturally, you'll eat less.

3) Low fat and low calorie foods sound good (in theory) however they're actually heavily processed and, as a result, are high in carbs. Carbohydrates are converted to sugar by your body and can then contribute towards weight gain.

4) Maintain a healthy BMI by getting a good night's sleep. According to a study published in the Sleep journal, regularly getting fewer hours of sleep is associated with slightly increased BMI.
