Mary Portas Launches Concept Store With House Of Fraser

Style queen Mary Portas today launches a fashion, gift, home and food collection aimed at 'grown-up women' in partnership with House of Fraser.

Putting her reputation as queen of shops and arbiter of good taste on the line, Mary has created her own fashion line for 'women, not girls' as well as curating a selection of other fashion brands, eclectic homeware and food gifts for the Mary & House of Fraser collection.

Alongside her much anticipated fashion offering, aimed at the 'invisible' over-40s, the concept store, which Mary hopes will provide an unparalleled shopping and service experience, will showcase some of Mary's favourite food and drink products, a collaborative range of luxury scented candles with True Grace and homeware from designers including Naomi Ryder and Becky Baur.

Mary says of the project: "I've spent my entire life working within and commenting on global retail. When shops are truly great, they provide remarkable and extraordinary experiences to brighten up peoples' lives. My new shop is exactly what I have always wanted to do in retail; my sincerest hope is that it provides the ultimate shopping experience."

The concept store is in House of Fraser's Oxford Street, London branch but happily for fans outside the capital the debut collection is also available online.

The shop, which is rather fabulously accessed by a private express lift, has been designed around Mary's creative vision and includes commissions from several young British artists.

And there's more – we get to see see how it all came together, as Channel 4 cameras were there to record the always watchable Mary and her team work on the project 'from concept to cashier'.

The three-part access all areas series, Mary Queen of Frocks, will air in October.
