The 50 Coolest Neighbourhoods In The World – How Many Have You Visited?

Peckham in London and Ancoats in Manchester both made the list.
|

If you’re planning your next weekend away – near or afar – we’ve been given the latest lowdown on the most exciting neighbourhoods to visit on your travels. If you’re super lucky, you may already live in one of them.

Time Out surveyed more than 27,000 people around the world, including Time Out editors and city experts, who identified the areas with the coolest new openings, where the cost of living was still relatively affordable and where visitors could soak up the best the city had to offer in culture, food and drink.

Think places that are more off-the-beaten-track rather than tourist hotspots.

Someone had the unenviable task of narrowing down the list to 50 – and we’re sorry to break it to you here, but nowhere in the UK even made the top 10.

Number one spot goes to Arroios in Lisbon, where you’ll find a blend of tasty street art, historical treasures, great cocktails and some of the best seafood you can feast on in the restaurant Ramiro. Sounds right up our street.

However, the UK does get a look in, with Peckham in south London coming in at number 11, and Ancoats in Manchester (27), Easton in Bristol (35), and Kelvinbridge in Glasgow (38) all earning a spot in the top 50. Meanwhile, it’s just a hop over to Stoneybatter in Dublin, which clocks in at 42.

Other neighbourhoods to land in the top five include Shimokitazawa in Tokyo, Onikan in Lagos, Wedding in Berlin and Filipinotown in Los Angeles.

You could add them to your bucket list. Or just book a trip to Bristol!
