The Ultimate Sleepover Party Timetable, As Written By A Seven-Year-Old

Eating curry = very important. 🍛

seven-year-old has schooled us in how to throw the perfect sleepover, and we’re totally on board. Young Mary Astley, from Waterbeach, Cambridge, put pen to paper to come up with her ultimate 10-point timetable for fun with pals.

From having a curry to telling stories (and brushing your teeth at the end), we think the guide easily translates to an ideal night for adults, not just kids.

Mary’s mum, Katy, shared the carefully written-out plan on Facebook, much to the amusement of her friends. “I’m using this as a blueprint for my next party,” one person commented, while another wrote: “With the exception of the survival camp, this is essentially every Saturday night for adults in my house!”

Katy says she found the note in Mary’s school bag, written in preparation for a sleepover birthday party this Friday. “She told me she wrote it at breakfast club, just for herself,” the mum says. “She has a tendency to write lists and random motivational notes!”

And despite being used to finding these random jottings from her daughter, Katy still found this one hilarious. “It’s such a bare reflection of her personality, but it was the last line that made me laugh out loud,” she adds.

Katy says there are a lot of teachers in her husband’s side of the family who joke that the teacher genes are strong in Mary. “She is very risk averse and sensible to the point of being ridiculous,” the mum says. “She also really likes curry and organising parties – somehow this list just epitomises her perfectly.”

Sleepover timetable:

  1. Great people

  2. Eat curry

  3. Change to PJs

  4. Party!

  5. Tell jokes

  6. Watch movies

  7. Tell stories

  8. Have a survival camp

  9. Have a midnight feast

  10. Brush our teeth.

And if you wanted to see more of Mary’s notes, look how brilliant these are...
