Watch SpaceX Falcon 9 Vertical Land Ahead Of "Drone Ship" Rocket Launch

SpaceX Has Managed To Make Its Incredible Vertical Rocket Landing Look More Insane

SpaceX has released new footage of Falcon 9's dramatic vertical landing.

The video comes ahead of another breakthrough SpaceX is hoping to achieve on Sunday, when it will attempt to land its rocket on a remotely controlled "drone ship" with the aim of launching a sea-level monitoring NASA satellite into space.

The video, posted on YouTube yesterday, showed the incredible moment Falcon 9 made its vertical landing in December -- a defining point for SpaceX founder Elon Musk, who has had to excuse three previous failed attempts.

At the time, the feat was also dubbed a breakthrough for space travel as landing rockets in the upright position allows them to be reused.

If SpaceX can successfully land its rocket on a mobile platform, it will increase the possibilities of where and when we can launch rockets.

Musk highlighted this via a tweet yesterday, saying: "Ship landings needed for high velocity missions."

In the meantime, SpaceX has unveiled new footage to remind the world of its record-breaking potential and keep hopes up.
